Graduate event company Secret Showcase

Tara Deane is Southampton Solent University’s BA (Hons) Music Promotion graduate. Tara has set up her own events company Secret Showcase. We caught up with her to see what the company is about and what the future holds.

What have you been up to since graduation?

Since graduation I have set up my own small events company called Secret Showcase, showcasing Film, Art and Music in secret venues on the south coast. My first event back in October, a Halloween screening of Psycho, SOLD OUT which was awesome! The next event was a Charity Christmas Arts fair in aid of Asthma UK which consisted of two venues, one of which was a music venue and the other a handmade gift venue, where local communities sold their produce. My next event is on 25th February and is a screening of Pulp Fiction in an underground vault in the city centre. For more information about this event go to secret-showcase.com.

How come you have chosen Southampton for your events?

I have chosen to run my events in Southampton and around the south coast as there are some amazing venues that are not being used in the way I use them. Most of the venues I use are only open for ghost tours or historic walks. It’s great to be able to open up and use a venue that the public would not normally be able to see.

What’s been the support from the University?

The uni have definitely supported me for my events as they awarded me with a grant to help with my company set up which I am very grateful for!

What are your plans for next year?

I have already got my 2018 planned, with three events per month in beautiful venues. I will also be looking to expand my team next year in order to grow as a company.
