Music students get stage management experience at Download Festival

Two Solent music production students had an amazing opportunity to work for music industry legend Steve Cheney’s production company at Download Festival 2017. Steve has worked at major promotion companies like Asgard, 3A Entertainments and Kilimanjaro. He has also done stage management for the main stages at Glastonbury, Latitude, Big Chill and Reading and Leeds Festivals.

George Gallivan from BA (Hons) Popular Music Production says, “Over the course of the weekend we shadow monitored front of house and back line engineers on The Dogtooth and Kerrang! stage, and we assisted the crew with changeovers and patching different bands setups in during changeover, moving different bit of kit around for them, miking up all the stage setup and running cables and mics back and forth. We worked under stage managers Nick Davies and Richard Knowles.”
