Students are at the heart of everything that SMILEfest does, with numerous projects connected to the broader event. The core event (live shows, conference, club nights and workshops) is organised by students studying BA (Hons) Music Management, BA (Hons) Music Promotion and BA (Hons) Popular Music Journalism, with support from a range of other courses at the University.
